Front Cover.
The front cover of my music magazine sticks to all the usual conventions of any existing music magazine:
Title
Central Image
Anchorage Text
3/4 Colours Scheme
Slogan
Buzz Words
Puffs
Teasers
Graphic Features
Personally, I think the highlights on my music magazine are the illustrated title and the central image; the title ‘Damage’ illustrates itself as the actual font looks damaged like when glass is scratched, and the central (main) image of my music magazine is in black &white which is rare among magazines. I also photo-shopped the background of my image to look as if it is deteriorating, emphasizing the title further and leaving the band member’s untouched, whole and true.
However, a downfall to my magazine might be that I used the minimum of a 3 colours scheme instead of 4; I think maybe another bright and enticing colour should have been used to attract more of my audience’s attention.
Overall, I think my front cover looks quite professional.
Contents Page.
The highlights of my music magazine’s contents page are the page’s basic conventions of:
Page Title
Magazine Title
Date, Magazine Issue
Pictures/ Anchorage Text
However, a downfall to the page I would say is the unusual structuring.
Overall, I would say my contents page is rather amateurish.
Double Page Spread.
There are many different ways to set out a double page magazine spread – I chose to set up my double page spread by using the first page to present the audience with pictures of the band and it’s individual members and the second page to present general information and the actual Death Bed Memory ‘exclusive’ interview.
I think the highlights of my double page spread are the layout and set up of the images, text and the interview in general. Particularly the picture text of the bands name on the first page with it’s graphical features.
However, I think a downfall of my double page spread is that the images used may make the magazine and the double page spread in particular come across as amateurish.
Overall, I think my double page spread is satisfactory.
